This past month we’ve traveled all over the country competing in the final races of the NHRA Full Throttle Countdown to the Championships and we’ve had some lows (two explosions in Reading, PA) so highs (winning Indy- the first race of the Countdown and cheering dad on as he won Vegas, the second to last event of the season) and everything in between. To say it has been an exciting few weeks would be an understatement!

When dad and his Castrol GTX team won on Halloween night, it was one of those moments I’ll never forget. He beat Matt Hagan, who is in the lead for the Championship, and if dad had lost, it would have been really tough to make up the difference in rounds in one race. But since he won, it closed the gap, and Team JFR will go into the World Finals in Pomona swinging! After the win, my sisters and I dressed up in our Halloween costumes for Winner’s Circle pictures. Since we ran a special theme car, the Queen of Hearts Tribute to D Team car, I chose to be Queen of Hearts for Halloween of course! We ended up #1 qualifier so I even got to go on stage at driver introductions and say hello to all the fans in my Halloween attire. My niece Autumn accompanied me in her fairy costume because…well… I was too embarrassed to go up by myself! It was a really fun day and my team did a great job and we are not far behind the #3 spot, which is what we’ll be trying to move into at Pomona.

We don’t have a race next week but since some of my team will be in town early, we have already made plans to hang out. Pomona should be really exciting and I hope that next time I’m writing a blog it’s to announce dad as the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Champion!
